Instructions
for installing your new
Frame- Renew
If your frame is
broken, try to nail it back together so you have a smooth
surface to start with, countersink the nails.
Cut to proper length by first measuring from the top of the
frame down to the centre of the latch plate hole, then measure
the same distance on the Frame- Renew from the centre of
the latch plate hole to the proper end and cut off there.
(Measure carefully.)
Next measure the full length of your frame from top to bottom,
(cut your Frame- Renew so the latch plate hole on the Frame-
Renew will line up with the latch plate hole on the frame).
Carefully remove the casing on the latch side. With a scrap
piece just cut off, try to fit it in between the door and the
frame. If it fits without rubbing the door then you need only
remove from the edge of the frame the thickness of the Frame-
Renew so the casing will fit flush to the wall when you put
it back on. If the door fits too tight you will have to take off
the same amount from the face of the frame or plane your door to
fit (if it is a wood door).
When you are ready, hold the Frame- Renew in place and
mark the frame for the striker plate and screws. Then chisel out
the striker plate, then drill pilot holes for the security
screws. Here you will have to use a drill or a chisel.
Countersink holes about a 1/4 inch deep by 5/8 inch wide. The Frame-
Renew must fit flush to the frame and must not stick out in
any place or the door will rub. Install pilot screws to hold in
proper place. Be careful when putting in the security screws
that you don't wrinkle the Frame- Renew by over
tightening.
When all looks good and works well put the casing back on,
install the striker plate for proper fit, and Enjoy your
Extra Security.

for the two 3 inch screws.

Instructions
for installing your new
Door-Renew
Remove lock set and
latch, carefully measure from top of door down to center latch
hole. Take this measurement and measure from the center of the
latch hole on the Door-Renew to either end of the Door-Renew
and make a square cut at this point.
Next measure, the full length of the door. Use the door
measurement and match this measurement to the Door-Renew.
The Door-Renew must be cut to the same length as the
door. Remember: the cut must be made at the opposite end of
the first cut. Using a file, smooth out rough edges caused
when cutting the material.
Take the scrap piece that you have just cut off, and place it on
the edge of the door. Now, see if you have enough room to close
the door without rubbing the jamb. If it rubs, you will have to
plane the door down if possible, or move the jamb over a little.
You will have to take off the casing on the latch side only,
pull out shims which may be on top, bottom and middle.
With a block of wood, gently knock jamb over enough to give
clearance for the door.
Place the Door-Renew over the edge of the door. Make sure
latch holes match up on both door and Door-Renew. Hold
securely in place then drill pilot holes for the screws on the Door-Renew.
Put screws in straight, do not strip or over tighten which may
cause wrinkling. You may have to change your latch to a drive in
type.

Installing the Dead
Bolt Lockmate
Install about 5" - 6" above the lock set or where the
existing dead bolt is (align carefully). Lay the lockmate on the
rabbited part of the jamb and mark for width, this area must be
chiseled out the thickness of the lockmate material.

The back part will go behind the jamb. If on a new frame use the
two shorter screws and screw to the back of the frame.
On existing frame be sure to shim between frame and wall before
putting in the two 3" screws. When it is fitted (but not
screwed in) mark and drill a 1" hole for the dead bolt
latch.
Groove out jamb for dimple holes on lockmate. Do not over
tighten screws.
